In France, Eva made some really nice poses a la Degas in the bathroom. Everyone had taken loads of photos. From mine I have picked some I would like to turn into pastels.
It’s really enriching to do the figurative work besides my landcapes. One of the reasons is, that my approach considering the technique and colors, is quite different compared to my landcapes.

    Hallo Astrid.
Es ist phantastisch. Ich bin sehr beeindruckt. Ein wenig erinnert es an Degas Es ist aber eindeutig Dein ganz persönlicher Stil Mach weiter.
    Liebe Grüße Sonja

    Aaaahhh. How wonderful!

I was struggling with some compositional issues around figures and backgrounds. Your solution here is just right, and I hope you'll consider it a compliment when I say I wondered if this was a M Dyer work or not.

I do see the differences, but the immediate idea read that way – I am so thrilled to see your great figurative work. I want to do the same, and I look to Dyer for the style that I like – now I'll be looking at your tyles, too.

    Hallo Sonja,
vielen Dank dir. Und danke für den tollen Link zur Website mit den tollen Pigmenten.

    Hi Casey,
yes, I take it for a compliment. But I hope that with time and many more figurative pastels I will develop my own style. It certainly is somehow very close to Margarets', because the workshop is still very present in my procedure.

    Hi Astrid!
Would you please talk a little more about how your figurative work is influencing your landscapes? I am very curious.
And on which kind of paper did you paint this? Did you use fixative in the layering process?
    Thanks! Loriann

    Hi Lorinann,
I'm nat sure how the figurative work had or will influence my landscapes. I'm curious to find out about that. I will let you know.
It was done on the Sennelier la carte with different types of pastels.Because I didn't hardly blend at all with my fingers, during the painting process I gave the board several times a good wack, so the loose pigments would come off. In the end I used La Tour fixativ.

    Hallo Astrid,

Wow, Astrid, this is really beautifully done! Wonderfully composed and I love the color and value relationships you've achieved. We had a great time in Germany by the way – Hohenroda (Where we stayed) is really very beautiful and I enjoyed drawing outdoors there.
