Dawn

It’s funny how things sometimes evolve. In comparison to my earlier paintings the small colorstudies are less detailed, lines have almost vanished. The values are very limited, now it’s range is much closer and with a more monochromatic color . The fog pastels have brought me back to an old field: my »night« pastels.

    Hallo Astrid,
    toll diese Nachtskizzen. Ich habe letzte Woche versucht Polarlicht mit Kreiden zu zeichnen. Hatte ich mir leichter vorgestellt! Trotz der Leuchtkraft der Kreiden, bei mir hat das nicht so gewirkt wie ich es gerne gehabt hätte.

    Hallo Astrid,
    ich mag solche Motive und bin gespannt, was Du uns noch zeigst. Ich habe nach ein paar Fotostudien inzwischen etliche Aquarelle mit Motiven in solchen Lichtstudien gemalt. Leider fällt mir zum Pastell die Zeit… ;-)

    ich glaube, Polarlicht ist auch eines der schwierigsten Motive, die es gibt.

    habe schon bei dir gesehen, dass du auch gerade fleißig mit Nachtlichtbildern beschäftigt bist. Letztendlich ist es doch egal, womit man malt, Hauptsache, man malt:-)

    right now I'm experimenting a lot, doing colorstudies and trying to find out, how much light (yellow/orange) a picture can take. I hope to be able to show them next week.

    ich finde es absolut faszinierend wie Du die Stimmung bei Deinen Nebel- bzw. Nachtbildern wiedergeben kannst. So "einfach" aber doch mit ganz viel Tiefgang.

    Beautiful mood and atmosphere in these studies, Astrid – they make for a wonderful triptych. It's great to see your process, too, from fairly detailed and linear sketches to the subtle, soft edges and values of your pastels.
