Pastel Society UK exhibition at the Mall Galleries London

I am pleased to inform you that I have been accepted for the annual exhibition of the Pastel Society UK in the Mall Galleries in London. After I had made it through the online preselection, I went to London this weekend in order to hand in my painting. Today I have learned that my pastel painting »Autumn surf« was selected for the exhibition in June.

The Federation of British Artists(FBA) consists of nine art societies, and is based at the Mall Galleries in London where the societies Annual Exhibitions are held.

Right now the annual exhibition of the watercolour society is on, so I went in and had a sneak peak of the exhibition rooms. Unbelievable that my painting will be in here as well in June.

The first ray of sunlight climb up on the dunes and leave some  spots ligh ton the beach. Being at the west coast surrounded by clouds and light is one of the best things in the world.

In Denmark the dunes offer new angles of view for the artist eye. The sun arranges light and shadow and brings this special glow to the dunes.

»Rain shower« was done in autumn after we spent a week on one of my favourite islands Sylt. During that time we did a video shooting. It now is finally ready and can be seen onSaturday, the 23th of February here on my blog. We did parts in the port of Hamburg, on the Northfrisian island Sylt and of course in my studio. Come back tomorrow when I have further great news.

At the Skagerrak

I am always surprised how much the light differs in North Denmark  from where I live in Hamburg (North Germany). Sometimes the dunes and sea are so blue, quite different from the North Frisian islands which are close to Hamburg. I just love the sand dunes in Denmark which are so much wilder compared to others. There are no restrictions regarding coast protections so you are actually allowed to walk into them.

This is one of my bigger paintings which I now have found time to do in my studio. I was so much impressed with this kind of sand dunes in North Denmark which seemed to be more wild and less tamed as on the islands in Germany. They open up to the west and allow the sun a game of light and shadow.
